Twomey Latham’s attorneys have been at the forefront of Long Island’s environmental law field since the early 1970s. Twomey Latham is perhaps best known for its work assisting local groups fighting, as The New York Times noted in a 1984 profile of on the firm, “poor land use, overdevelopment and environmentally harmful planning.”

Our founding partner, Tom Twomey (1945–2014), represented a group of local farmers opposed to the Long Island Lighting Company’s proposal to build four nuclear power plants in Jamesport. The broad, statewide coalition of environmental, civic, and political groups he assembled helped defeat the proposal as well as the construction of the Shoreham nuclear power plant.
